Dr Odysseas Athanatos was born in Engomi Nicosia in 1947, attended the Pancyprian Gymnasium Kykkos and graduated in 1965.He fulfilled his military obligations with the Cyprus National Guard in 1965-6.
He studied medicine at the Medical School of University of Athens, graduating in 1972. Returned in Cyprus 1972 and started the Preregistration Training at the Nicosia General Hospital until May 1974. During the Turkish invasion in Cyprus, he offered his Medical services voluntarily at the N.G.Hospital living all the dramatic experience of the war injuries.
In October 1974 he went to London UK to continue his training in Orthopaedics and Traumatology.

1981 returned in Cyprus and worked in private practice until 1987.
1987 with Dr Chr.Riris (Gynaecologist) and Dr V.Makris (G.Surgeon) established The Hippocrateon Medical Centre later named The Hippocrateon Private Hospital.
1987 - to date - Orthopaedic Consultant at The Hippocrateon Private Hospital.
