Dr. Phivos Symeonides has been practicing medicine as a Cardiologist in Hippocrateon Private Hospital since 2007. He has graduated from Athens Medical School and Acropolis Lyceum with a distinction (Grade: 20/20). During the 6 years of his studies at the Medical School he had a full scholarship from the Greek Government Scholarship Institution. He has succeeded in the United Stated Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and he has a Doctor of Philosophy (PHD) Diploma from Athens’ Medical School (Grade: Excellent). He has done his 6 year residency program in Cardiology in Evangelismos Hospital in Athens and subsequently had a sub-specialty in Novel and Advanced Echocardiographic Techniques in Onassis Heart Center. In the past he has worked as a consultant cardiologist in Athens in Mitera Clinic and Athens Euroclinic. In the latter he was scientific director of the very active, in both clinical practice and research, non-invasive laboratory, which had a unique focus in Stress and Transoesophageal Echocardiography and the Advanced Echocardiographic Techniques. He actively participated in the post-graduate lessons of Arrhythmiology and Invasive Electrophysiology, organized by Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center. Throughout the years he has always showed special interest in the research field and he has many (>55) oral and written presentations in international and Greek conferences. Full papers have been published in European Journal of Echocardiography, American Journal of Cardiology and other medical papers with substantial impact factor. In addition, he was honored with the second best prize for a Greek research project, for his thesis (PhD), regarding the prevention of cardiovascular complications in patients with early diabetes. Dr. Symeonides is a member of many scientific societies; more specifically he is a foundation member of Greek Society for Heart Failure, the Cyprus Intensive Care Society, the Cyprus Working group for Echocardiography, a part of the board of the Cyprus Atherosclerosis Society and a member of other societies or working groups. He is very active in organizing events regarding information of the public as far as health issues are concerned. He regularly writes medical articles in newspapers and magazines, as well as the electronic press. Finally, he is a member of the teaching personnel in Frederick University where he is a lecturer for the lesson of Physiology and Clinical Pharmacology.
